All those elements play a role in making the movie as good as it is. However, We think the thing that stands out most about Full Metal Jacket is the story. It’s not your typical Hollywood war movie where everything ends up being happy. Instead, the Full Metal Jacket goes to some very dark places and doesn’t shy away from the horrors of war.
The director rips the skin from the face of war to expose the effect of the military on the people fed to its emotional meat grinder in Full Metal Jacket. Cuebrick reveals the damage done to the collective human soul by the inhumanity of war.
Full Metal Jacket offers some insight into the problems faced by American combat soldiers, including adjustment, psychological trauma, and the moral dilemmas thrown up by the Vietnam War. Through Joker’s cocky idealism and cynicism, Cuebrick asks important questions about the Vietnam War, the involvement of American soldiers, and what they were meant to achieve.
